For years, the gin industry within the UK has been steadily growing.

When we opened in 2014, gin was at the start of it’s growth. Its popularity soon soared, and every Tom, Dick n Harry wanted in on the craze.

Basically, if you weren’t drinking gin, you were making it.

The growth isn’t slowing

In 2020, despite the pandemic, distilleries in the UK grew by record numbers. 124 new distilleries were registered, which is 28% higher than 2019. This is despite the national closure of the hospitality industry. Clearly, people are still interested in the spirits industry, and it is going from strength to strength.

Ok, so not all of these distilleries are going to be making Gin. Many will be whiskey, or vodka distilleries, but the evidence is clear that distilling in the UK is strong and steady.

Perhaps it’s because we’re big boozers

It’s no surprise really considering that Britain has one of the highest alcohol consumption levels in the developed world.

The average Brit consumes the equivalent of 108 bottles of wine a year, or 427 pints of beer.

That’s a lot, by anyone’s standard and we taste gin at 9am some days!

So how do you choose?

There are dozens of gin distilleries in the UK to get your tastebuds juicy and satisfy that itch - there is no shortage of choice.

When it comes to choosing your gin, the key is to explore. Some companies really push the boat out in terms of flavour profiles, and there really is something for everyone.

Check out our range of gins for some unique and unusual flavours. If it helps we also named them quirky things to set us apart.

But whatever you choose to drink, choose properly, drink responsibly and enjoy!
